Upgrade from RemoteTM 3.0-1 to 4.0-2

Requirements:
  • Download version 4.0-2 of RemoteTM.war
  • Download and decompress ExportData.zip
Export your existing data

Follow these steps for safely migrating your data from RemoteTM 3.0-1 to 4.0-2:

  1. Login to RemoteTM 3.0-1 as a user with System Administrator privileges.
  2. In System menu, select the About... option. A dialog like this will appear:

  3. Write down the location of the Data Directory (highlighted in the picture above).
  4. In System menu, select the License management option and disable the license key. Don't skip this step!
  5. Shutdown the Tomcat instance where RemoteTM 3.0-1 is running.
  6. Open a terminal window on Linux / macOS or a DOS prompt box if you use Windows.
  7. Go to the directory where you decompressed ExportData.zip
  8. On Linux or macOS execute:
        sh ExportData.sh  admin-user  admin-password  data-directory 
    on Windows run:
        ExportData.bat  admin-user  admin-password  data-directory 
    Adjust the values of admin-user, admin-password and data-directory according to your settings.

    This process may take a long time, depending on the size of your databases.

    Error messages regarding your data may be displayed on screen. You can disregard them.

Import data into RemoteTM 4.0-2
  1. Replace the version of RemoteTM.war that is in the /webapps folder of your Tomcat server installation with the new RemoteTM.war for version 4.0-2.
  2. Restart Tomcat.
  3. Open RemoteTM in your web browser. You may need to refresh your browser and clean its cache (pressing "Ctrl + Shift + R" works for most browsers).
  4. Type your License Key and click the REGISTER LICENSE button.
  5. Login as user sysadmin with password secData .
  6. Change password as requested. The new password will be discarded after you import previous data.
  7. In Settings menu, select the About option. A dialog like this will appear:

  8. Write down the location of the new Data Directory (highlighted in the picture above).
  9. Shutdown Tomcat.
  10. Open a terminal window on Linux / macOS or a DOS prompt box if you use Windows.
  11. Go to the directory where you decompressed ExportData.zip
  12. On Linux or macOS execute:
        sh ImportData.sh  data-directory 
    on Windows run:
        ImportData.bat  data-directory 
    Adjust the value of data-directory according to your new settings.

    Data import operation may take a long while, depending on the size of your translation memories.

  13. Restart Tomcat and RemoteTM will be ready to use, with all your data transferred to the new version.
