About Maxprograms

Maxprograms SAS has built open-standards tools for the localization and translation industry since 2002, with its CTO directly involved in creating the specifications those tools implement. The company itself dates back to 1987.

Built on open standards

Maxprograms has built its products around the open standards used throughout the localization industry: XLIFF, TMX, TBX, SRX, and GlossML. Rodolfo M. Raya, the company's CTO, edits the XLIFF specification and is the author of SRX and GlossML, with additional contributions to TMX and TBX.

Maxprograms today

Maxprograms' core engineering is done by Rodolfo M. Raya, covering CAT tools, translation memory management, terminology, and DITA localization workflows. The company's tools, including Swordfish, TMXEditor, Fluenta, Stingray, Anchovy, and RemoteTM, are used by translators, language service providers, and localization teams that need standards-based alternatives to proprietary CAT tool ecosystems.

Alongside its own product line, Maxprograms also provides custom software development for other companies in the localization industry, drawing on the same standards-based expertise behind its products. See Services for details.

A long history in business software

Maxprograms was founded in 1987. For its first fifteen years, the company built point-of-sale software, including inventory tracking, supplier management, accounting, and the everyday systems a retail business depends on. In 2002, the company relocated to Uruguay.

From 2002 to 2007, Maxprograms developed software on an OEM basis for Heartsome Holdings Pte Ltd (Singapore) in the translation technology industry. When that partnership ended, Maxprograms began selling the tools it had built independently, which became the starting point for the product line it maintains today.

The maxprograms.com domain was registered in 1999, the year the company's website first went online. That is why the copyright notice on this site reads "1999," while the company itself dates back to 1987.

Maxprograms SAS is registered in Uruguay under RUT 221001220018, with its registered office at Pedro Berro 1312/501, Montevideo, Uruguay.
